Deadline for Economic Census is Past Due

The 2012 Economic Census, the U.S. Government's official five-year measure of American business and the economy, is entering its final days of data collection, however if you missed the deadline, you can still turn in your report without a penalty.

The Census Bureau reports that many businesses have shared the challenges of responding and the bureau want to encourage business leaders to use available online tools to help get the survey completed. A wealth of information is available on the survey and it only takes 8-10 minutes to complete, according to the website.

Because of the response from businesses, the bureau has implemented time extensions and other considerations in allowing businesses additional time to respond. Keep in mind that the Economic Census is required by law.

“In this economic climate, it is necessary to have the most accurate measure of our economy,” the website reports. “Response to the Economic Census allows the government to provide exactly that.”

Businesses can also get help by phone by calling (877) 790-1876, however they recommend using the website for help, which is always available at: econhelp.census.gov.
