Operation Homefront, the national non-profit that provides emergency financial and other assistance to military families and wounded warriors, in conjunction with P-Quatro Designs will host a dream wedding for United States Marine Corps Cpl. Patrick Walker and Taylor Walker.
Online voters selected the Walkers to receive the wedding based on Cpl. Walker’s essay, submitted last August. Cpl. Walker, who lost his leg in January 2011 after stepping on an improvised explosive device in the Sangin District of Afghanistan, explained in the winning essay how he and Taylor had married in August of 2010 in Las Vegas because they could not afford a big wedding. “We are so grateful to receive this wedding,” Cpl. Walker said. “The best thing about winning is being able to really make my wife happy. She has had to do so much for me, now finally I’m able to do something for her and it is great!”
The wedding is set to take place on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17th at Milltown Historic District-The Grande in New Braunfels, Texas. The couple’s wedding package valued at approximately fifty-thousand dollars was all donated generously by various vendors in New Braunfels and greater San Antonio, including Milltown Historic District of New Braunfels, Black Tie Affair Catering of San Antonio, and Silver Eagle Distributors.
