Top Nurses Honored with SHINE Awards at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System

During Nurses’ Week 2014, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System recognized the importance of the nursing profession by honoring its nurses for their dedication to the CHRISTUS mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.  Additionally, each CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital recognized one nurse with a Special Honor for Individual Nursing Excellence (SHINE) Award.

The SHINE Award recognizes nurses who exceed expectations while exemplifying characteristics of leadership, compassion, clinical skills, and educational standards. Each SHINE Award recipient was recognized during a special Nurses’ Week celebration at the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. This distinguished honor will be memorialized with the SHINE Award recipient’s name and photo prominently displayed on a plaque at their respective campuses.

“Nurses at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System are invaluable when it comes to patient care,” said Pat Carrier, president and CEO, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System. “The level of care they provide to the patients we are privileged to serve is instrumental as we extend our healing ministry.”

This year’s award winners were Juliana Armachuelo RN, BSN, CCRN; Jennifer Drinan RN,BSN, RNC; Misty Glorioso RN, BSN, CCRN; and Karen Kuder BSN, CPN, CCRN.

Juliana Armachuelo works in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills.  Juliana is described by her peers as someone who shows that she cares through her kind words and actions.  Her many years of experience have enabled her to connect with patients and their families while providing truly compassionate care to those she serves.

Jennifer Drinan is the unit supervisor for the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels Birthing Center.  Jennifer’s vast array of knowledge and clinical experience is reflected in willingness to help those on her team and her ability to handle any situation that arises.  She consistently builds a strong rapport with her patients and sets an exemplary example for those on her team.

Karen Kuder, a nurse in the Operating Room (OR) and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Medical Center, always has a kind word, soft smile, and caring attitude when interacting with her patients and her peers.  Karen is often utilized as a resource for clinical guidance and advice by others on her team.  She is committed to lifelong learning as evidenced by her membership on the nursing practice council, her motivation to her professional certification, and her willingness to continually take on new projects.

Misty Glorioso is a nurse in the Pedatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.  Because of her advanced knowledge and skills, Misty is a continuous resource for her peers.  By striving for perfection and providing excellent patient care, Misty sets an excellent example for others to follow.
