SACU is pleased to announce the names of seven students who have received the 2014-2015 SACU Bridge for U Scholarship, designed to assist SACU members as they move from a two-year community college to a four-year college or university. Each scholarship is for $3,000, with this year’s awards totaling $21,000.
This year’s scholarship winners are:
Rachelle Allen, Converse, Texas, attending the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in apparel design.
Casey Bedell, San Antonio, Texas, attending St. Edward’s University in Austin, majoring in psychology.
Danielle Gregoire, San Antonio, Texas, attending the University of Texas at San Antonio, majoring in accounting.
Jackquelin Loera, San Antonio, Texas, attending the University of Rochester, NY, majoring in chemistry and Spanish.
Clarissa Schwab, San Antonio, Texas, attending University of Notre Dame, majoring in economics.
Arianna Scott, Fresno, Texas, attending Ashford University in Clinton, IA, majoring in healthcare administration and psychology.
Arturo Veliz, San Antonio, Texas, attending Texas State University, majoring in engineering.
“Our scholarship winners have proven themselves to be successful students, and SACU is pleased to help these students and their families,” SACU Scholarship Chair and Board member Deborah J. McCrary said. “We believe contributing support for education is critical to the sustainability of the families that comprise our cooperative and our communities.”
Bridge for U Scholarship awards total more than $130,000 since the program began in 2009. The funds can be used to defray the costs of tuition, books, lab fees and other education expenses. The scholarship is available to students annually who qualify.
