New Braunfels completes major makeover

The multi-million dollar makeover at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels (CSRH – NB) is now complete.  After twelve months of construction, CSRH – NB is able to offer a facility that is on par with the compassionate care and excellent service its Associates, Physicians, and Volunteers provide every day.

One of the key elements of the makeover is the transition from semi-private to private patient rooms, in order to provide patients and their families with more privacy during their stay at CSRH – NB.  In addition to the updated patient rooms, the Main Lobby, Emergency Department, waiting areas, and nurses’ stations were also renovated.

New artwork was unveiled at CSRH – NB as another avenue for creating a comfortable, healing environment.   For the Main Lobby, several artists were commissioned to create faith-based artwork with a hill country influence to tie in the Hospital’s Catholic foundation and New Braunfels heritage.  All patient rooms and patient hallways have calming artwork that focuses on nature, specifically bringing elements of the outside inside.

“I am very proud of our Hospital’s new interior appearance,” said Jim Wesson, FACHE, vice president and administrator at CSRH – NB.  “New buildings and renovations are welcomed luxuries in hospitals today; however, the positive patient experience is a result of the people.  Our outstanding Associates, Physicians, and Volunteers continue to provide a legacy of more than 60 years of proven health care to members of our community.”

In addition to the many physical changes, CSRH – NB has also significantly increased its capacity to care for much higher acuity patients over the past 5 years.  This has included the expansion of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), development of a state-of-the-art Cardiovascular Center, formation of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and opening of the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Emergency Center – Creekside.

“This makeover is an example of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa’s continued commitment to community growth and expanding access to care to those we are privileged to serve in New Braunfels and beyond,” Wesson said. “We are extremely proud of our Hospital’s physical improvements, but our primary focus continues to be about the patient experience.  Our talented and compassionate Associates, Physicians, and Volunteers work tirelessly day in and day out to fulfill our mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”
