More about the Program

The San Antonio Public Library will host the Alfredo Cisneros Del Moral Foundation awards presentation at 6:00pm in the Latino Collection at the Central Library. Author Sandra Cisneros will present the award named for her father to winning authors Ire’ne Lara Silva and to honorable mentions, Fernando A. Flores and David Tomás Martinez.

Each author will read from his or her winning work. A reception and book signing will immediately follow the program.

The Alfredo Cisneros Del Moral Foundation was created in 2000 to honor the memory of Sandra Cisneros' father, an upholsterer.  Since 2000, the Foundation has awarded over $115,000 to writers born in Texas, writing about Texas, or living in Texas. The Alfredo Cisneros Del Moral Foundation invites a panel of nominators to recommend writers from across the writing disciplines who exhibit both exceptional talent and profound commitment to their chosen form of artistic expression.

This event is presented by the Latino Leadership for the Library of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation.

This event is not open to the public. Media should check in with Joseph Marks upon arrival.
