Concordia University Texas CEO Dr. Donald Christian to Speak on Leadership at Lutheran High School

Concordia University Texas (CTX) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Donald Christian will speak on the “power of leadership” and “leading through change” at the Lutheran High School Leadership Presentation on October 28 at 7 p.m. at Greehey Gymnasium, 18104 Babcock Road.  This event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided.

Christian began his appointment as the CEO of CTX on August 1, 2014, following a unanimous vote by the institution’s Board of Regents. He serves as the academic, spiritual and business head of Concordia, a role for which he is well prepared following a life of service to the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod in a variety of roles.

Currently, Christian is leading the University through a strategic planning process, including how the organization can best engage with its multiple constituencies.  Christian often talks about the importance of community.

“Leadership is about people, change, (and) helping people move through change,” Christian said.  “I believe that people are created to be in community, and that all of the organizations and institutions to which we belong should reflect that. Creating community (and being involved in that community) helps everyone to bring their gifts to bear for the common good…or as we speak about it in the Christian tradition, bringing about the Kingdom of God.”

Christian was invited to speak at the leadership presentation as part of 20 events commemorating Lutheran High’s 20th anniversary.

“He brings energy and passion that will help the audience realize that they can have that same energy and passion in their life and career as well.” Patrick Maynard, Lutheran High Head of School and Concordia alumnus, said. “Dr. Christian has a knack of engaging people and helping each person take a step forward. I cannot think of a better way to help our students than placing them in front of people, like Christian, who are excellent in their profession, strong in their faith and who are positively impacting the world.”
