Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Opens New Pediatric Multispecialty Center In New Braunfels

Children now have access to world-class pediatric specialty care in the New Braunfels area.  The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio has opened a pediatric multispecialty center on the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels campus.

“This is just one more way we are bringing world class pediatric care closer to home for children and families throughout our community,” said Elias J. Neujahr, President of Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. “We are bringing the specialists to the families and providing convenient access to specialized, high quality health care.”

The center will offer specialists in Neurology and Pulmonary Medicine along with Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapy specialists.

“We are pleased to bring the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio’s dedicated focus to pediatric specialty care to New Braunfels,” said Jim D. Wesson, FACHE, President and Administrator, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels.  “Many of our families have had to travel to Austin or San Antonio to receive this specialized, pediatric care.  CHRISTUS Santa Rosa and the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio are fulfilling a need here to provide access to specialists and help bridge the gap so often seen in pediatric medicine within our community.”

The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio has teamed up with more than 155 Baylor College of Medicine physicians, as well as community private practice physicians, to create a network committed to providing seamless health care services for the children of San Antonio and the surrounding community.

“We are bridging gaps and breaking new ground,” said Dr. Mark Gilger, Pediatrician-in-Chief at the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and vice chair of the department of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. “The model of pediatric health is changing in San Antonio and the surrounding communities, and we couldn’t be more proud to lead this effort and provide care close to home for children and families.”
