SAHA Opens one-stop support center for probationers

WHAT: The San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA), in partnership with San Antonio Fighting Backand the Bexar County Community Supervision and Corrections Department, announces the creation of the Resurgence Collaborative, a focal point for Community and County entities specifically designed to provide a smooth re-integration for San Antonio Eastside community members and their families who are involved in the Justice system.

Funded by the Department of Justice’s $600,000 Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program Grant, the Resurgence Collaborative is the first comprehensive re-entry program in Texas that is co-located with a Probation Field Office.

SAHA is the only housing authority among the 15 award recipients across the nation to be competitively awarded a Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation (BCJI) program grant from the Department of Justice to address neighborhood-level crime. BCJI is a data-driven approach leveraging research and innovation to identify the drivers of crime in a location and to develop place-based, community-oriented strategies to reduce criminal activity.

San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA)

SAHA provides housing assistance to over 65,000 children, adults and seniors through its Public Housing, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and Mixed-Income housing programs. The agency employs more than 500 individuals, with an annual operating budget of $168 million, and real estate assets valued at over $500 million.  SAHA’s affordable housing programs include 71 public housing properties, more than 13,000 vouchers in the Housing Choice and Special Voucher programs, and 45 properties in a Mixed-Income Portfolio. The agency empowers and equips families to improve their quality of life and to achieve economic stability through the agency’s commitment of funding and allocated resources, and with the direct involvement of our local partners.
