Children's Hospital Association of Texas Appoints New Vice Chair from SA

Hospital President Takes Leadership Role with Texas Children's Advocacy Group

(San Antonio, TX - January 19, 2016) - The Children's Hospital Association of Texas (CHAT) Board of Directors has named Elias Neujahr to serve as vice chair for the next two years. Neujahr is the president of The Children's Hospital of San Antonio, which is among the founding members of CHAT. Neujahr will play an important role in advising this influential agency as it tackles children's health issues that are relevant to Texas.

"Children's hospitals are working together to improve health care for all children in Texas by collaborating on best practices and advocating for improvements in public programs and services that children need in order to grow up as healthy as possible," said Bryan Sperry, president, CHAT. "We are pleased that Elias will serve as vice chair of the CHAT Board for 2016-2017; he will play a key role for CHAT by working with elected officials in Texas to advance pediatric health care, especially in children's hospitals."

"The Children's Hospital of San Antonio is transforming the way health care is provided. I'm excited to share this experience with lawmakers and state agencies that oversee programs that affect the care of children," Neujahr said.

The Children's Hospital Association of Texas (CHAT) was formed by five founding members, Children's Medical Center of Dallas, The Children's Hospital of San Antonio, Cook Children's Medical Center, Driscoll Children's Hospital, and Texas Children's Hospital.  CHAT's mission is to advocate for the development of an effective, high quality, comprehensive and appropriately funded children's health care delivery system in Texas.  CHAT incorporated as a non-profit trade association in September 1988; and its membership is restricted to non-profit children's hospitals in Texas.

As vice chair, Neujahr will preside over CHAT board meetings in the absence of the CHAT board chair. His term began January 1, 2016, and continues through the end of 2017.
