Local Star Power, Art and Higher Education Top the Bill for Cascarón Bash

San Antonio, Texas – Cascarón Bash puts the FUN in fundraising with a unique “unofficial” fiesta event featuring art, great music, craft beer and pizza on-a-stick! It’s happening Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Alamo Beer Company, 202 Lamar St., from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. and proceeds benefit San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP).

San Antonio Actor Jesse Borrego along with his father, accordion virtuoso Jesse Borrego, Sr. and siblings Marina and James are set to perform through the evening embellishing the beer garden ambience with the dancing tunes of cumbias, polkas, boleros, and Tex-Mex Rockabilly along side life-size sculptures from the ¡Paletas! Open-Air Exhibit by David Blancas that will adorn the exterior for this one night affair in the name of charity. The entire Paletas Sculpture Series is on the silent auction block via Bidr to help raise funds.

In addition to great entertainment and this unique art exhibit, for a donation of $40 attendees will receive two complimentary Alamo Beer drafts, an onsite brewery tour and takeaway souvenir pint glass, food provided by Alamo Pizza, snacks by Al’s Gourmet Nuts, a souvenir paleta fan and some cascarones to get started! Tickets are available at webheadtech.com/cascarónbash2016.

Webhead, in true technocrat fashion, is using the Bidr platform, streamlining event ticketing, silent auction, donations and event registration creating paperless and text-friendly usability for attendees. A silent auction featuring the Paletas Sculpture Series that will be on display at Cascarón Bash has launched to augment fundraising as well as further engage attendees leading up to the event. Bidding or making a donation will be as easy as text.

"We're excited about the live, online auction that has limitless reach, it's global, so anyone, anywhere can bid on this artwork and help us raise funds for a great cause right here in San Antonio," says Janie Martinez Gonzalez, Founder and CEO of Webhead. Blancas, a visual artist specializing in paintings, portraiture, murals and sculpture, is no stranger to donating his work for charitable events and causes, he has gone all-in for Cascarón Bash, putting all of his current Paletas Sculpture Series on sale with proceeds benefiting SAEP.

"It's amazing to see my artwork on this progressive auction app where people are able to bid and buy art with a text message," said Blancas. "I'm happy to help raise funds for higher education and I've enjoyed collaborating with Webhead."

His Paleta Series is part of UTSA's permanent collection, "Sabores de UTSA," a triptych of two-dimensional paletas in blue, white and orange; they were rendered into souvenir fans for the City of San Antonio in 2012 for the Americans for the Arts National Convention; and a group of four two-dimensional sculptures "Sabor de Concord Grape," "Sabor de Vermont Cherry," "Sabor de Hawaiian Pineapple," and "Sabor de Sour Apple" were displayed later that year at the San Antonio International Airport. This group is part of the Series for sale on Bidr benefiting SAEP and will be displayed in the Open-Air Exhibit at Cascarón Bash.

SAEP works diligently to close the college graduation gap for San Antonio students by lending the guidance needed to graduate from high school, enroll in college, and earn a college degree and/or certificate. The Partnership delivers its key services annually through three programs: Road to Success, the San Antonio Education Partnership Scholarship and Café College.

For two decades Webhead has made significant contributions creating high paying jobs and giving back to its beloved San Antonio community. Martinez Gonzalez established the Webhead Geeks in Sneaks Corporate Giving Program led by her and driven by employees. The team volunteers, donates goods, participates in match gift programs, pro bono work, mentorships and fundraises throughout the year. Webhead values employees’ input and supports the organizations Geeks in Sneaks are passionate about.
