Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas to Donate a Tacoma to Stevens High School

San Antonio, Texas -- Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc. (TMMTX) will be onsite at Stevens High School to donate a Tacoma truck to benefit the Automotive Technology program on Wednesday, November 02, 2011 at 10:00am in the Automotive Technology Building.

This Tacoma donation is part of TMMTX’s continuing support of education programs in high schools in the San Antonio area promoting workforce development. Students are able to tear down and rebuild a brand new Tacoma with the latest technology for training purposes. This kind of hands-on experience is essential in providing training to students in our community interested in automotive technologies, repair and mechanics.

“This donation continues TMMTX’s connection with our neighbors and community”, said Chris Nielsen, President of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas. “Whether through volunteer activity or other philanthropy, we strive to have a positive impact and hope that this contribution will positively impact the students at Stevens High School and its automotive technology program.”

"We are so appreciative of Toyota for giving our Automotive Technology students this tremendous gift," Superintendent John Folks said. "This is a perfect example of how a community partnership truly can enrich our students' education."

Congressman Charlie Gonzalez said, “I applaud Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas’s efforts to invest in the next generation of San Antonians and provide them an opportunity to learn about the cutting edge of automotive technology. Local students will benefit greatly as we prepare a skilled and educated workforce."

District 6 City Councilman Ray Lopez added, "Leading edge technologies, particularly in manufacturing, are critical to workforce development and San Antonio is fortunate to have companies like Toyota that provides our city with a clear economic advantage. But community involvement is just as important and this donation to Stevens High School speaks volumes to the commitment Toyota has for our community."
