As Davidson & Troilo, one of San Antonio’s ten largest law firms celebrates its 50th anniversary of providing legal services to clients in San Antonio and Central and South Texas, the Firm announces the addition of two named partners, Lea Ream and Frank Garza, kicking off 2012 as Davidson Troilo Ream & Garza. Ream, with the Firm over 20 years, and Garza, former City Attorney of San Antonio, contribute to the present practices of the Firm. Davidson Troilo Ream & Garza also recognizes the senior lawyers who provide special talent and invaluable experience to the Firm and its clients.
Founded by the late attorney Robert Sawtelle to serve municipal public utilities, financial institutions and small businesses, in addition to city governments large and small, the Firm opened in 1962 as Sawtelle, Hardy, Davis & Goode. The current named shareholders, John Davidson and Arthur Troilo, joined the Firm shortly thereafter.
Since its inception, the Firm served as General Counsel to the San Antonio Water System (then the City Water Board), the San Antonio Development Agency, the City of San Antonio and many smaller incorporated municipalities in Bexar County, Central and South Texas. Davidson Troilo Ream & Garza continues its work today for public entities such as Port San Antonio, the Brooks Development Authority and VIA Metropolitan Transit.
"The team concept and state of the art delivery systems of our attorneys and administrative staff have maintained our success for the past 50 years," said John Davidson of the anniversary. "It’s quite amazing for a local law firm to stay around this long and be among the top ten largest firms in San Antonio. We are one of the few among the top ten headquartered in San Antonio," he added
"We’ve had an incredible 50 years," said Arthur Troilo. "I’ve been with the Firm since 1962, and it’s been a great lifelong experience for me. Rolling into 2012, I’m excited about the new steps that the Firm is taking and proud of the tradition and values that the next generation of lawyers at Davidson & Troilo maintains," he continued.
Ream became president of the Firm in 2008 making her the first female to serve the role. "We are now a certified woman-owned business and also a small owned business," said Ream, "something that’s quite remarkable given the Firm’s history."
Lea Ream and Frank Garza contribute to the management of the Firm as well as the depth of their legal expertise. Ream handles corporate, employment and litigation matters for the Firm’s private and public clients. Garza, entering his 25th year of assisting municipalities with their legal needs, lends his experience in many ways to the community. His projects include the representation of over 20 cities throughout Central and South Texas, including eight as City Attorney.
"Our Firm really reflects the community of San Antonio," said Garza. "It’s a family environment. Everyone is willing to help out and really steps up to the plate for one another. That’s why we’re so successful. We look forward to continuing our work within San Antonio as Davidson Troilo Ream & Garza," he explained.
