Chamber to Host 4th Annual Birdies for the Brave Golf Classic

This is the 4th year your Chamber and TPC San Antonio will be partnering for the Celebrate America’s Military “CAM” Golf Classic. This annual tournament is a highlight of the thirteen-day series of events that is designed to show our military, both active-duty and retired, that the community of San Antonio supports them and recognizes their sacrifices in defense of our nation. This year’s CAM Golf Classic will be held at TPC San Antonio at the J.W. Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa on Monday, November 3.

The event will feature a full field of golfers; half representing the business community and half active-duty service members from the local military. The day’s events will kick off with a 9:30 a.m. registration and a 12 p.m. shotgun start. Participants will enjoy golf on San Antonio’s premier course and play in support of the PGA Tour’s Birdies for the Brave charity.

A PGA TOUR Charities, Inc. program, Birdies for the Brave is a military outreach initiative proudly supported by the PGA TOUR that is dedicated to supporting the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Since 2005, the TOUR has joined with PGA TOUR players and corporate partners to raise millions of dollars for military home-front groups that provide critical programs and services to meet the specialized needs of wounded warriors and military families, through fundraising events at TPC clubs nationwide.

Through this partnership, your Chamber has been able to increasingly donate more funds to veteran charities than in years past. Nearly 100% of the proceeds from the tournament go to support Birdies for the Brave, and over the past three years the event has successfully raised almost $100K.

Your Chamber’s Celebrate America’s Military Committee is chaired by Mike Rowland, Vice President Market Manager-Military Liaison at Broadway Bank. For more information about the Chamber’s Economic Development Committees, please contact Danny Chavez at (210) 229-2105.
