Last Friday, the DCCM team attended the Society of American Military Engineers Clay Shoot and won first place! Representing the team were Brett Binkley, Parker Thompson, Harold "JR" Reddish, P.E., FNSPE, FSAME, and Mark Behne, who is a Veteran. Congratulations to the DCCM team on their impressive victory, showcasing their skills and teamwork!

Employee Spotlight: Get to know Brian Mendez, a Designer in our New Braunfels Binkley & Barfield | DCCM office! 🏞 What do you like to do in your free time? People that know me, know that I like to play disc golf. If I have free time, I will be out on a course playing. ✨ Do you have any unique hobbies? I would consider Disc Golf my unique hobby. 🏆 If you could meet anyone—famous or not, living or dead, real or fictional—who would it be and why? It’s hard to choose one, so in the spirit of the Employee Spotlight, and sticking to similar answers above, I will say Paul McBeth. He is a disc golf pro, and I definitely could use some tips. 🚢 Where is your favorite place to be? My favorite place to be is on a cruise, spending some relaxing and fun times with family. 👨🏭 What would most people be most surprised to learn about you? I was a welder for about 10 years. It was one of my most interesting jobs. (6pm to 6am) To this day, when I walk into buildings, I find myself looking at the frame. 🤝 What is your favorite/most rewarding thing about your job? I find it rewarding when a project is completed. It’s neat to see a project fully built out, and knowing you had a hand in it. May is Motorcycle Awareness Month, and Binkley & Barfield | DCCM’s Transportation department would like to recognize how vital road safety is for all vehicles. Safe riding practices and cooperation from all road users will help reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on our nation’s highways. Drivers need to understand the safety challenges faced by motorcyclists such as size, visibility, and motorcycle riding practices like downshifting and weaving to know how to anticipate and respond to them. By raising motorists’ awareness, both drivers and riders will be safer sharing the road. Binkley & Barfield | DCCM takes road safety seriously. Our Transportation department works daily to improve road conditions for Texas drivers, but it’s up to all of us to make sure everyone drives safely and responsibly! More than half of fatal motorcycle crashes result from collisions with other vehicles. Drivers simply don’t see the motorcycle or misjudge its distance and speed. Thank you to everyone who visited us at our booth at the 2024 SouthWest Electric Distribution Exchange (SWEDE) Conference (hosted by CPS Energy) in San Antonio. Martin Benavidez, P.E., Ron Leverton, Monica Aizpurúa, Gilbert Blanco, Julio Pacheco, Fernando Floreslovo, Norbert Gonzalez, Pedro Gonzalez, Alyssa Vera, and David Brown, RCDD, OSP, TPM enjoyed meeting new colleagues and chatting with familiar faces at our booth. To kick off the week, we enjoyed the cool spring weather while we hit the greens at the SWEDE Golf Tournament!
